Run Alcester members were proud to attend the FTD Brothers' Homecoming event at Astwood Bank Cricket Club on Sunday 7th June 2026, celebrating an extraordinary achievement by two local brothers who have inspired thousands with their courage, determination and commitment to a cause close to their hearts.

Jordan Adams (31) and his younger brother Cian Adams (26), known as the FTD Brothers, recently completed an astonishing challenge: running 33 marathons in 33 consecutive days across every county in Ireland.

While the physical feat alone is remarkable, what makes their story truly extraordinary is the reason behind it.

Both brothers carry the gene responsible for fronto-temporal dementia (FTD), a devastating neurological condition that claimed the life of their mother Geraldine at the age of just 52. Knowing that they themselves are highly likely to develop the condition later in life, Jordan and Cian have chosen to use their time, energy and athletic ability to make a difference.

Their challenge has helped raise almost £2 million for dementia research, bringing hope that future generations may benefit from improved treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

The homecoming event brought together family, friends, supporters and members of the wider community to celebrate the brothers' achievement. The atmosphere was one of admiration, pride, gratitude and hope as people gathered to recognise not only the scale of the running challenge, but also the impact it is having on dementia research.

For the Run Alcester members who attended, the event was a powerful reminder of the unique ability of running to bring people together and to create positive change. As runners, we understand the dedication required to complete a marathon. To complete 33 marathons on 33 consecutive days is almost beyond comprehension. To do so while carrying the knowledge of what the future may hold makes the achievement even more remarkable.

The brothers' story also struck a particularly personal chord with many members of Run Alcester. Several of our members are currently supporting loved ones living with dementia or have witnessed first-hand the impact that the disease can have on individuals and families. For them, the challenges faced by Jordan and Cian, and the brothers' determination to raise awareness and fund vital research, felt especially meaningful.

Dementia affects millions of people worldwide, but behind every diagnosis is a family navigating difficult changes and uncertain futures. The FTD Brothers' campaign is helping to shine a light on those experiences while providing hope that increased research funding can lead to better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

The courage shown by Jordan and Cian in confronting their family's history of fronto-temporal dementia has touched people far beyond the running community. Rather than allowing their circumstances to define them, they have chosen to inspire others, raise awareness and help fund vital research.

Everyone at Run Alcester extends their congratulations to Jordan and Cian on their incredible achievement and thanks them for sharing their story so openly. Their determination, resilience and generosity serve as an inspiration to us all.

We wish them every success in their future fundraising efforts and look forward to following the next chapter of their remarkable journey.
